RESEARCH OF HISTORICAL MATERIALS

Despite the geographical and historical proximity, the fortification architecture of the Austro-Hungarian period in the Boka Bay and along the Montenegrin coast has not been thoroughly studied. A notable exception is the work of Radojica Pavićević from Herceg Novi, whose expertise in military doctrine and architecture provided a foundational resource and significant encouragement for the research on Mamula presented here. The historical, architectural, and conservation studies were carried out by experts from the PROJEKTOR Conservation Studio in Tivat during 2015–2016. This research involved an extensive review of archives in Kotor, Split, Zadar, and Pula, as well as the War Archive in Vienna, located within the Austrian State Archives (Das Österreichische Staatsarchiv – Vienna Kriegsarchiv).
